If your house already has a traditional heating and hot water system, with a hot water cylinder, then you need a regular boiler (also referred to as a traditional or conventional boiler). These boilers also require a cold water cistern to feed the hot water cylinder and also need an expansion cistern in the loft to supply the central heating system. They are a good option for most traditional property types or if you live in an area where the water pressure is low.

Regular boilers are also compatible with solar water heating systems.
